Ray J's Thoughts:
In "F1: The Movie", Brad Pitt plays former Formula One driver, Sonny Hayes, who comes out of retirement to team up and mentor rookie driver, Joshua Pearce (played by Damson Idris).
I'm not a sports fan by any means, but I do enjoy an engaging sports movie here and there, and that's exactly what "F1: The Movie" is. Predictable, sure, but that's perfectly okay. An entertaining summer blockbuster, with fantastic performances from Brad Pitt, Kerry Condon, and Sarah Niles. Kerry Condon plays Sarah McKenna - the APXGP technical director, who forms a romantic relationship with Sonny Hayes, and I personally enjoyed her charming performance. Sarah Niles plays Bernadette Pearce, the mother of rookie drive Joshua Pearce, and I actually enjoyed her performance the most, which is filled with heart and humor.
The film is incredibly thrilling - featuring immersive cinematography - and exciting racing sequences. I really enjoyed the movie "Grand Turismo" from a couple of years ago, and although "F1: The Movie" isn't based on a true story, I can confidently say that I had an really fun time with it. Again, I'm not all too familiar with Formula One racing, but I'm familiar with some of the drivers and their names - and there are plenty of cameos from real life F1 drivers, including Lewis Hamilton (who is also a producer for the film), Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris.
My only real complaint is that you can definitely feel the 2h 35m runtime, but it's so worth it!
"F1: The Movie" is meant to be seen on the largest screen possible, so be sure to head out to the cinema this summer (or watch at home) and immerse yourself in this high octane blockbuster
