In "K-Pop Demon Hunters", a world renowned K-Pop girl group "HuntrX" balance their lives in the spotlight with their secret identities as demon hunters. They are soon faced with their most complicated battle to date, when The Saja Boys (a group of demons disguised as a fresh & new K-Pop boy band) arise. With the arrival of this new boy band and their ridiculously infectious bops, HuntrX must protect their fans at all costs, and "Takedown" the Saja Boys - while one of the girls holds a dark secret of her own.

"K-Pop Demon Hunters" comes from Sony Pictures Animation who are at the top of the game right now when it comes to quality animation. This is the best animated film of the year so far, and the best since Dreamworks "The Wild Robot" last fall. The animation is impressively stylish & expressive. If you've seen the Spider-Verse films and "The Mitchell's Vs. The Machines" you know what I mean. It's the type of refreshing animation that isn't produced more often. I love it!

Amongst the slick animation & high energy battle sequences, "K-Pop Demon Hunters" holds a surprising amount of emotional depth - you won't just find malicious supernatural demons here, but the film focuses a lot on handling inner demons that we hold from our past. Even the lyrics of the phenomenal music featured heavily consists of messages of battling inner demons & mental health. I can appreciate any kind of film that dares to tackle those topics, especially in a clever and thrilling manner.

The soundtrack absolutely slaps and consists of some of the most addicting songs I've heard from a film in a very long time. I think that my favorite songs are "What It Sounds Like" (the finale song), "Soda Pop" (performed by the Saja Boys during their introduction in the film), "Golden" (performed by HuntrX), and "Free" (an uplifting ballad performed by Rumi of HuntrX and Jinu of The Saja Boys). I've had the soundtrack on repeat all summer!

It's a shame that the movie was not given an initial theatrical release, considering the massive K-Pop music fanbase. Fortunately, I was able to attend one of the limited in theater Sing-Along events with a couple incredible friends of mine, and it was such an uplifting experience! They both hadn't seen it yet, and absolutely loved it! It truly felt like one big community coming together in celebration of this viral phenomenon….hearing all of the kids belting out all of the words to the songs & reciting the film word for word was truly something special. The magnetic energy of the audience singing along & reacting to the movie was simply wholesome & truly goes to show that seeing a film in the theater with an audience is the best way to experience a film & hopefully that experience never disappears.

Prepared to be slayed by "K-Pop: Demon Hunters" phenomenal animation, infectious soundtrack & lovely messages. I highly recommend this one ya'll!
